Tom is a cat and jerry is a mouse

Tom and Jerry is a Collection of Animated Cartoon Movies created and directed by William Hanna and Joseph and Dispersed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

The next 114 shorts were directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer animation studio in Hollywood, California. Each of the shorts was released to theatres by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Rudolf Ising was the manufacturer of Puss Gets the Boot; following shorts were produced by Fred Quimby through 1955.

Quimby retired in 1955 and from 1956 to 1958, Hanna and Barbera made the shorts until MGM closed the animation studio in 1957, and the previous cartoon premiered in 1958. 

The majority of these animations were produced from the standard Academy ratio. Four cartoons were produced for the two Academy Ratio and CinemaScope formats. Finally, 19 animations were produced from the widescreen CinemaScope format only.
